Violist Aleida Gehrels is a Seattle based performer, recording artist, and teacher.  She made her debut as a soloist at the age of 17, performing the Stamitz Viola Concerto with the Tucson Pops Orchestra.  After completing her Masters in Music under the tutelage of Roger Chase at the Chicago College of Performing Arts, Aleida embarked on a career as a chamber musician.  From 2010-2015, she toured all seven continents as violist of the Beacon Street string ensemble on board luxury cruise liners.

Since moving to Seattle, Aleida has broadened the scope of her musical activities beyond classical music. She spent several months on a European tour with Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, has appeared with Amy Grant and Michael W Smith, and recently performed with Pandamonium, a group comprised of leading Indian fusion musicians.  She also frequently performs with Andrew Joslyn and the Passenger String Quartet, and has been featured live on KEXP radio with ODESZA and Jeremy Enigk.  Aleida maintains an active role as performer and member of the artistic board for The Sound Ensemble, and often plays with the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber Orchestra, the Seattle Modern Orchestra, and the Federal WayYakima, and Tacoma Symphonies.
